#43: Frances McDormand
Frances McDormand, star of Fargo and Nomadland, was adopted herself as a baby. She and husband Joel Coen adopted son Pedro from Paraguay in 1995, when he was six months old. McDormand said she knew it was her job to protect him from the moment she held him.

Pedro grew up in New York and stays close with his parents, often sharing tributes to them online. He has worked as a personal trainer and massage therapist. He also takes pride in his Paraguayan roots and celebrates his birth country publicly.
