We Had No Idea These Celebrities Had Adopted Children

Oscar winner Charlize Theron, known for Monster and Mad Max: Fury Road, became a mother through adoption. As a single parent, she adopted Jackson from South Africa in 2012 and August from the United States in 2015. She has called motherhood the greatest honor of her life.

Jackson and August are now 14 and 12. Theron keeps them largely private, but both joined her for a rare red carpet appearance at the New York premiere of The Odyssey in July 2026. She has said she co-parents with help from her mother, Gerda Maritz.
