#23: Katherine Helmond, Everybody’s Favorite Mom-in-Law
Few actresses can claim two classic sitcoms, but Katherine Helmond can. First, she played sweet, scatterbrained Jessica Tate on Soap (1977–1981). Then, she played Mona, the flirty, fun-loving grandma on Who’s the Boss? (1984–1992). Both roles earned her Emmy nominations.

Later, she found new fans as Lois Whelan, Debra’s quirky mom on Everybody Loves Raymond, and as the voice of Lizzie, the sleepy old car in Pixar’s Cars (2006). Kids and grandparents could now laugh at her together. That’s a pretty great way to stay relevant.
