#56: Pagodas Appear to Balance on Mountain Peaks
High above Lampang, tiny white-and-gold pagodas seem to have been placed on rocky peaks that barely have room for them. Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat rises across steep mountain terrain, with sacred structures scattered dramatically along the ridgeline.

Reaching the upper section requires a drive followed by roughly a kilometer of walking, but the setting is what makes the temple extraordinary. The Tourism Authority of Thailand even describes it as an “Unseen Thailand” attraction. From below, the pagodas look almost as though they were dropped onto the mountaintops from the sky.
