#55: One Island Has Black Stones Instead of Sand
Koh Hin Ngam in Satun does beaches very differently. Instead of soft white sand, the small island is completely covered in smooth black hornfels stones of different shapes and patterns. When seawater washes over them, their surfaces become glossy and almost polished-looking.

The unusual shoreline lies within Tarutao National Park and can be reached by boat from Koh Lipe. Visitors are specifically asked not to stack the stones or take them home, helping preserve the extraordinary landscape. On this Thai island, the pebbles really are the main attraction.
