#11: Rainier Spent Christmas with Grace’s Family
In December 1955, Rainier traveled to America and spent Christmas with Grace and her family in Philadelphia. Their courtship had largely unfolded through letters, but now he was entering the household where she had grown up. The visit brought their relationship into a much more personal setting.

Away from Monaco’s palace, Rainier had the chance to meet the people whose opinions mattered deeply to Grace. Her parents had already influenced one broken engagement, making their response especially important. This time, the visit would lead toward marriage. Before leaving, Rainier would ask Grace a question that changed her future.
