#12: The Network Wanted to Rename the Show After Fonzie
As the Fonz’s popularity exploded, it didn’t take long for network executives to notice. Audiences adored him. He got the cheers, the catchphrases, the leather jacket love. After the first few seasons, the network seriously considered renaming the show Fonzie’s Happy Days — or even just Fonzie.

But not everyone was on board. Garry Marshall and Ron Howard reportedly threatened to resign if the title was changed. They believed the show was an ensemble about the Cunningham family and their world — not just one character. Thanks to that stand, Happy Days kept its name and its balance.
