#8: Expect the Unexpected
You could never quite tell what might happen at the end of a Who show. Sometimes Townshend would smash his guitar. Sometimes Moon would knock over his drums. Sometimes, everything onstage would fall apart. It wasn’t choreographed. It wasn’t for show. It was just what they felt like doing when the music finished.

People came to expect it, but that didn’t make it feel any less real. Other bands tried to copy it, but it always looked staged. With The Who, it was different. The destruction didn’t come after the music. It was part of it.
