#38: Who I Am, Pete Townshend’s Memoir
In 2012, Pete Townshend released his memoir, Who I Am. It didn’t try to clean up the past or rewrite the story. Instead, it laid everything bare: the childhood trauma, the self-doubt, the spiritual searching, the wild highs and darker lows of life in a band that never played it safe.

He didn’t write like a rock star. He wrote like someone still trying to understand it all. There was no attempt to sound cool or clever. Just a man looking back and trying to tell the truth, the best he could.
